Lucida Follia
Oltre l'Orizzonte degli Eventi

After tons of metal, finally I’ve in my hands a pure refreshing of Italian punk/hardcore as our tradition teaches.
Lucida Follia from Viterbo is a pretty recent hc outfit, born from the ashes of Flop Down, which for this first release avails itself of the services given by always active DIY Conspiracy (for who doesn’t know it, check out the Slight split Peralta review in this website for more infos).
After having listened to “Oltre l’Orizzonte degli Eventi” hundred times, the only dearth that I’ve found is the too shortness of whole album; so when you put this in the music player you have to hold your breath and to release it only after the 12 minutes that compose this brilliant exordium.
If you remember their predecessors, you should think at Lucida Follia as a much heavier version of latest Flop Down (I’m talking about the split with Downright), maintaining the strong political edge, the immediacy and rawness, also adding well-fitted and very efficacious choruses and pregnant breakdowns.
The guideline threads are pulled tempos and a charismatic angry frontman that doesn’t ever stop his mouth to vomit choleric and critical words against this homologated and exploiter society; basing himself on a pricking and intense analysis upon mankind that evidently emerges from the lyrics, rigorously in Italian language. Their target are not as usual the oppressive states or mighty men who rule the world, but they throw, not without a sense of bitterness that pervades all the songs, against the bases of the structure, against who lives in a total indifference, being satisfied of a ridiculous material behaviour raped only for lust with the suffering of weak poor people and not able to see over their nose; in short, against what they define “the unaware flock”.
All 5 songs level is pretty high and considering some rockish parts and a bunch of heavy slowdowns, the final result is really really pleasingly ready to animate your next show with stage-dives, involving singalongs and circle pits.
The production is good in my opinion, so the sound flows out well mixed and rightly granitic. Also the simple booklet doesn’t lack in English translations for the songs’ lyrics. I repeat: it’s only a pity the fact that we have only five tracks, anyway I’m impatient to see one of their live shows soon for the first time.
Hey dudes, this is 100% Italian committed hardcore!
