THE BRONX + 400 BLOWS
01/05/2004 - Rockplanet - Cervia (RA)

I actually didnt know the Bronx too well, so I wasn't too convinced about going to this gig. I just had heard good (very good ones to be sincere) about them and plus I hadn't seen a serious rock'n roll show since Turbonegro last year, so that's what led me to attend the show. I get to the place much in advance. No one had shown up yet. Well, not that many would have had after.
Too bad, cause this guys from Los Angeles really deserved more attention. It's also true that the price ticket was, as it often happens in that venue (Rockplanet) too high. 13 euros were too much, and no one can go and claim the contrary. Whatever... we're in Italy and it seems like it's a common habit to have tickets shows overpaid in here. Anyway, going back to the music part: I have to be sincere, I didnt pay much attention to the opening band, the 400 Blows. Sorry. All I have been able to observe was that the singer looked like the bad copy of the Glucifer's frontman. Their performance must have lasted about 30 minutes and I'm pretty sure no one got impressed with that.
When it comes the turn of one of the latest rock'n roll sensations on Ferret Records, I just couldn't avoid observing that pretty much all of the band's members were drunk as fuck. I guess this is a reoccurring cliché when speaking of rock n' roll bands. Drunk or not, these 4 guys, whose latest record has been produced by Duff McKeagan (Guns'n Roses... not your average emo violence Orchid's influenced band) still have been able to put on an incendiary rock'n roll set. Fast, raw and wild, totally Stooges styled, even while speaking of attitude.. Almost a punch in the face I would say.
In less than 40 minutes they managed to play almost everything off their self titled album came out on Ferret few months ago. They even managed to move some of the crowd with their hilarious behaviour (The singer would move around in the place and all at once ask to total strangers who weren't paying any attention to the band's performance: "How you doin man?)
All said and done, I've been pretty satisfied with my decision to attend the show. A dirty rock'n roll show is what I was looking for and a dirty rock'n roll show is what I've found.
Less low mooded revival acts such asThe Strokes, more bad asses old styled bands like The Bronx.
