Countdown Records
Hardcore for life

Interview with Luca made on 4/10/07

Introduce the label to someone who doesn't know. Where are you from, who is who in the label and what do you guys aim to with Countdown Records.

-Hi Save your scene, I'm Luca from Countdown records. My label started in 2003 as a shop, with our first goal records Gonna fall hard “Slap by Ghandi” we started to work on the promotion and production of the hardcore bands. Right now Countdown records relase 10 records, I'm working with few people that help me out with the artworks, booking, printing and more.
Countdown records works to help the underground hardcore and punk scene

How did you come up with the name?

-Warzone is one of my favourite all time band…since I was 15. Well, I decided to took the name from a song of that band, “Countdown” is a song from The sound of revolution cd. I¢m really proud to choose this name, that band changed my life!

What are some bands that you have worked with?

–Toooo much hehehe, big and small bands.
I think the best is my friends Gonna fall hard, for me is the best hardcore band in Italy: true hardcore attitude and fucking awesome style! Dudu and Simone are two of my best friends into the hardcore, I learned a lot from that thugh guys hehehehe; love ya!
Anyway I'm also fuckin proud to have worked with Payback, Woptime and Concrete Block, Danny Diablo and Puerto Rican Myke. These are also some of my favourites artists!

What are probably artists that you'd like to release stuff on Countdown Records?

–Maybe a new album from Last resort or 4 Skins hehehe. Or Maybe something from Jon Josef, Vinnie Stigma, Freddy Madball, Vinnie Value or Jimmy Gestapo. Their bands are into my all time playlist and are a big part of my life, will be a pleasure for me to work with those people.

How does it feel running an indie label? What's good and bad about it?

–One really bad thing: I work a lot and have no money, I'm just surviving with my label hahahah. But on the other side there are lots of good thing: I can meet and talk with lots of kids and help them out, I workin into my favourite music, I can go to see lots of my favourite bands and more…hardcore is incredible, is the true life. Kids don't leave our music to the fucking business asshole!!!

What's your opinion on downloading nowadays? How would you feel if kids started downloading CD artists?

-I hate download, I prefer to have my own copy: read the texts, see the pics and all these things.
I think download is ok just if you have to download shit like 50 cent, Foo fighters, Anthrax…they don't need money to survive; the hardcore scene needs money to survive!
Everyone into the new generation download. I hate pc and I love my cds and my vinyl…so fuck you, spend your money to buy a new cd from an hardcore band, don¢t spend it to buy another pair of Diesel. Or if you have money do both things hahaha

What's next concerning releases? Is there anything plannedto be released soon?

-Yeah man! Puerto Rican Myke “D9 live from the Bronx Zoo” will be relase in these days. It's a fucking NYHC must, it's a “best of” from this great guy that played with Skarhead and District 9. Lots of suprise for the hardcore kids a near future so stay tuned and check out

What music do you guys listen behind hardcore. Would you ever release non hardcore bands?

–Hip hop and Oi! bands!!!!!
I think these kind of music can live behind hardcore, this kind of kids come from the same shit and the same problems! It¢s one of my dream to see hardcore kids, skinheads and b-boy togheter at the same shows. Hardcore, Oi! and hip hop are my favourite music!!!

What does it take for a band to be added to the CT roster?

-First of all they need to have a great hardcore attitude! No emo gay bullshit or other shit like that hahaha!
I m work a lot to find new bands from USA and Europe, there's lot of good band with a great sound and great attitude. The hardcore scene is huge you know? :- )

Where can someone contact you guys for demos, promos and related stuff??

–Feel free to send me a demo, or whatever you want.
