Every Time I Die
from their show at Mean Fiddler, London...
Interview with Keith (singer) made on 06/02/04
Leonardo: Keith, how does it feel being back in Europe? Having fun?
Keith: Touring Europe is always fun.
Leonardo: To me, your last album sounds pretty much rock'n roll rather than hc or anything else. Do you agree?
Keith: Definitely. It's dirtier, it's more fun.
Leonardo: Anyway, do you repute your bands attitude, rock'n roll, hc or what?
Keith: It depends. Unfortunately the band is unable to decide how they can categorize. But for our attitude towards music, we say we own a rock'n roll attitude rather an a hc one.
Leo: What's your musical background? I mean, what are the bands that inspired you the most? Mainly listen to old or new stuff?
Keith: I listen to old stuff. The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Queen. As far the new stuff is concerned, nothing american really. I'm so sick of buying cds and having to get rid of them few days after… I love HIM though.
Leo: Really?
Keith: Yeah, love those guys.
Leo: Have to suppose you also like glam metal then…
Keith: Glam metal is so good..
Leo: Few time ago I spoke with Wes from American Nightmare (give up the ghost) and he told me the only new band they like was you.
Keith: Really? Same here. Give up the ghost are our best friends and they're a band we actually love.
Leo: So, what do you think about the inglobation of Ferret Records by Roadrunner?
Keith: I think it's great. We're really good friends with everybody in Ferret and this inglobation will allow bands like us to have more space and a better distribution.
Leo: So, you're not concerned to be on a so called major label roster.
Keith: No, because it doesn't affect us. I mean it's cool if our records are gonna get a major label distibution, but we're not gonna be a major label band. We don't want a big bus or shit like that.
Leo: I've read your lyrics and they (last album especially) all remind me of the typical rock'n roll lifestye. (sex, drugs…) What about that? Is that your real lifestyle?
Keith: No… it's just for fun. It's satirical. Not that we live life like that. Just to add fun to the thing. Cause,, we're the anti band I think. Any boy that's willing to accept us is the first people that we lash out at….I don't trust anybody who likes me. …
Leo: So,you're just into the drinking part.
Keith: Definitely. I'm a big fan of drinking.
Leo: Let's talk about the name of your band. Where does it come from? Does it have any particular meaning or not?
Keith: No, it doesn't really have a meaning. Several meaning for us, but not one in particular. We just thought it was funny.
Leo: What are your plans for the future? Do you plan to come back in Europe soon or you haven't thought about that yet? Are you working on a new full length?
Keith: As soon as this album (Hot Damn - Roadrunner is releasing it for the European market) comes out on Roadrunner, hopefully we'll be back in the next few months. We were talking about this last night with the guys in Funeral for a friend. We've already toured U.S. with them, they're awesome dudes.
Leo: Did any record changed your life?
Keith: Let me think….yeah there's one actually. Pink Floyd, The Wall. My dad made me listen to it. What a great conceptual album.
Leo: Do you wanna say anything to your european fans in particular, and also to the readers of saveyourscene.com?
Keith: Just that, if we ever come around, and you have a free minute, come talk to us, we can hang out.
Leo: Thanks Keith.
What do you think about it?
